Up betimes

Bressay

Half an hour in the early morning
with lines from Radio 4

here is the weather forecast for inshore waters
Stav takes me clockwise
from Cape Wrath to Shetland

where I dive from the rail
in a northwest 3 or 4
to swim ashore

meanwhile back on dry land
Pudsey Surprise Maximus
clamours from the Pierhead church

I can’t afford to waste so much time
says Dame Judi
so little of it is left

and few of us can have
a second chance to play Hamlet
and get it right

nothing would surprise me
after these timeless months
when will the curtains rise?

Pudsey Surprise Maximus” is one of millions of  ways of ringing the changes on a set of church bells

I’ve spent so much time blending voices from R4 with my internal thoughts over the past few months. You’ve captured this beautifully.
